What you reap is what you sow
Sept. 11th, hijacked planes are flown to the big city in order to destroy the symbols of a political system. Explosions, buildings falling to dust, survivors running in the streets and the media broadcasting the event live.
New York City 2001 ?
No, that was in Santiago de Chili Sept 11th, 1973. General Augusto Pinochet's coup against democratically-elected socialist president Salvador Allende. Pinochet's dictatorship was to last for 15 years. All this was made with the help and support of the CIA.
Beyond the natural and evident compassion for the victims of the WTC and DC attacks, one must admit that the US - like any other country - are not an innocent country. Didn't they take part in clandestine, violent and illegal attacks in Southern America, Asia, Africa and Middle-East ?
Let us pray for the rest of the souls of the dead. The dead of the WTC and DC but also the dead of Viet-Nam, the dead of Chile, all the dead. Let us pray for peace and love in the world.
"An eye for an eye will make the world blind" as Ghandi said. As long as states don't start to behave with compassion and friendship towards one another there will be war (either military or economic) and as long as there will be war there will be pain and despair. Despair leads to violence and sometimes terrorism. If we want terrorism to disappear we should not just strike some terrorist groups, we should work to make the causes of terrorism (despair & poverty) disappear.
Any comments ?
